Marathon (42.195 km)

The Kiribati International Marathon begins at the WWII Memorial in Betio, a historic site commemorating the Battle of Tarawa. From there, runners travel along the narrow coral islands of Tarawa toward Bairiki, surrounded by views of the Pacific Ocean and the turquoise lagoon.

The course is a 2.5-loop route featuring a turning point near the New Zealand High Commission, passing through vibrant island communities and palm-lined roads before finishing in Bairiki town centre, close to the Kiribati National Olympic Committee headquarters. This unique course offers an unforgettable blend of history, ocean scenery, and the warm atmosphere of Kiribati.
